To exhibit at EXPO 2027 Belgrade as a company, you have three routes: join a national or collective pavilion, take corporate space in the business part of the Expo, or exhibit at the run-up Belgrade fairs before it. For each you choose between renting a stand and buying your own modular system. This guide explains how to decide.

EXPO 2027 is the first Specialised World Expo in the history of the Balkans. By the official calendar it runs from 15 May to 15 August 2027, 93 days, on 25 hectares in Surcin next to Belgrade airport. Over 130 countries and more than four million visitors are expected. The theme is "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All".

For a company this is not a 2027 event but a 2026 decision: space, contractors and the run-up fairs fill up through the whole year before the Expo. Whoever starts early gets a better choice of location, more time to design, and a calmer build.

At the Expo, countries, international organisations and companies all take part, each in its own area. The site has three zones: the International Participants area with national pavilions, the Thematic zone, and a Corporate and Best Practice area. A company is therefore not limited to a national pavilion.

There are three realistic routes for a company: a place in a collective pavilion shared by several participants, a corporate appearance in the business programme and partnerships, and the wave of run-up Belgrade fairs before the Expo. All three are built with a modular stand, and that is where we come in.

An honest word on the limit: we do not build national pavilions; those go to large international contractors. We are a partner for corporate and collective exhibition spaces and for stands at the fairs around the Expo, with the original octanorm system.

At a Specialised Expo the organiser builds the site and assigns each participant exhibition space, which the participant fits out. This is the key difference from a World Expo, where participants build their own free-standing pavilions. Under BIE rules the organiser builds the space and you fit out the interior, and that is exactly where the modular octanorm system belongs.

For you this means you do not build a structure from the floor up; into the assigned space you place walls, counters, lighting, light frames and furniture, assembled to your floor plan. Octanorm is standardised and assembles without tools, so the build is fast and repeatable.

Renting is the right choice for a single appearance, when you do not want to store equipment. For one appearance at the Expo or a run-up fair you get a built stand, use it, and return it after the event, with no transport to your own warehouse and no maintenance between seasons.

A rental gives you the modular octanorm system assembled to your floor plan: walls, counters, lighting, light frames and furniture. We print the graphics for your appearance and handle setup and removal.

Renting has a clear limit: nothing remains yours after the fair. If you exhibit in Belgrade more than once, the rental costs add up, and that is when you should consider buying.

Buying pays off when you exhibit regularly, and around EXPO 2027 there are many occasions. Octanorm is a modular aluminium system that you buy once, keep, and reassemble for every fair, building a different floor plan from the same parts.

Here are the numbers for Belgrade: before the Expo there is a wave of fairs in Belgrade, for example SEEBBE (the building fair, 21 to 24 April 2026), the Technical Fair (19 to 22 May 2026), the Tourism Fair (19 to 22 February 2026) and the Furniture Fair (12 to 16 November 2026). You use the same system at these fairs and then at the Expo, paying only for new graphics each time.

An owned system has a 5 to 10 year service life and, as a rule, pays back over about three to four appearances. Because octanorm is standardised and has been made since 1969, you add parts and grow the stand years later, without replacing the whole system. The decision rests on one question: how many times you will exhibit. For a single appearance, renting is cheaper and simpler. For two or more appearances, which is likely around EXPO 2027, buying starts to pay off, because rentals add up while the system stays yours.

The middle path is a turnkey build: we design, build and install the stand, and you decide whether to buy it after the event or return it. That way you start without a large upfront investment, with the option to keep the system.

The cost of a stand depends on size, design and the choice between renting and buying; there are no official Expo prices for stands, because the organiser sets only the terms of the space. As a guide, European market benchmarks apply: a modular stand rental is often around 250 to 350 EUR per m2, and a custom build runs roughly 400 to 1000 EUR per m2 for a single storey.

Cost is driven mostly by size (a small stand is 9 m2, medium 18 to 50 m2), an upper deck, lighting and AV, and graphics. Plan the total appearance budget at about three times the floor-space cost, with the stand itself often 40 to 50 percent of the whole.

For EXPO 2027 timing is decisive. Tenders and preparations are in full swing, and space and contractors for spring 2027 fill up through the year. For an appearance at the Expo we recommend an inquiry 9 to 12 months ahead, and for the run-up Belgrade fairs 2 to 6 months is enough.

It helps to know the public milestones: the organiser is due to hand pavilion exhibition units to participants by December 2026, and the wave of Belgrade fairs runs throughout 2026. Those fairs are exactly the chance to use your own system before the Expo.

Official participation in EXPO 2027 runs through the participant portal (ipportal.rs) and through the commercial or partner procedure of the organiser, which you enter with a letter of intent. To appear under a country you contact your national Expo commissioner, and in the region a chamber of commerce also helps you take part.
